To Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour
Put Mississippi Families First
We, the undersigned citizens of Mississippi, along with people across the United States who care about hardworking Americans struggling to afford basic necessities such as food, housing and transportation, ask you to accept the unemployment insurance (UI) funds in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
Stand with Mississippi and encourage the Mississippi Legislature to include these funds in the reauthorization of the Mississippi Department of Employment Security.
The Recovery Act offers Mississippi a $56-million opportunity to help 39,600 hardworking Mississippians weather the recession - without committing the state to any future tax increases.
This $56 million in Recovery funds will generate more than $120 million in economic activity in the hard-hit local economies throughout the great state of Mississippi. Please put politics aside and put Mississippi families first by accepting this UI money.
Standing with Mississippi,
